Household Hazardous Waste
Hazardous items such as corrosive liquids, poisons or harsh chemicals should
not be placed in the collection containers. Please visit our

Yard Waste
Yard waste such as leaves branches, grass clippings also should
not be placed in the collection containers. Please visit our

Other Unacceptable Items
Some other items cannot be collected by the City of Columbus. This
includes, but is not limited to:
- Auto parts and tires;
- Excavating and building materials (Construction
debris);
- Refrigerated appliances (refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, heat pumps,
water coolers and air
conditioners);
- Furnaces, pianos, spas, hot tubs or pool tables
For these items, please call a private hauler (check

the yellow pages under "Rubbish").
Dead Animals
Dead animals should not be placed in City-provided trash containers. The City does collect dead
animals from public roadways and sidewalks. Call (614) 645-5966 to request collection of a dead animal from the roadway,
sidewalks or city right of way
(areas directly adjacent to city roads). This voice mail is checked regularly,
weekdays.
Dead animals cannot be collected from within your house,
basement or garage, or anywhere on your property. Please check
google local
or your yellow pages under animal control for a private company
for animal removal. Veterinarians and some local funeral homes will accept dead animals. You may arrange to drop-off a
dead animal by calling (614) 777-7387, extension 208.

Department
of Highway Maintenance
